Welcome to the HSTE page


This year Happy ISD, through the Amarillo Area Center for Advanced Learning (AACAL) / Gateway, is offering Medical Terminology and Health Science Technology Education (HSTE). Happy ISD is proud to be a part of this program. The Health Science Program of Study prepares students for a future in medicine through hands-on experience in the classroom, a laboratory setting and in local medical facilities. Students take classes that lead to certification in EMT, EKG Tech, and Certified Medical Assistant. Students will also take Anatomy & Physiology as a part of their Program of Study.

Grading Policies:

1.       Daily work and quizzes are graded 50-100 points

2.       6 Week Tests are 150-200 points

3.       Semester Exams 300-400 points – semester exam only counts as 15% of grade.

4.       Late work must be turned in by the end of the Unit of Study or it is a zero

        (unless there are extenuating circumstances such as illness, etc)

        **(Grades have been posted to the Parent Portal. Students can also pull the

        HSTE and Med Term grades up for parents through Blackboard via their

        student's login.)
